Cascade Milling has several thousand acres of certified organic irrigated farmland near the east slopes of the Cascade Mountains in Washington State.
We grow our wholesome organic crops (organic wheat, organic pinto beans, organic black beans, organic corn, etc.) with Columbia River water fed by mountain glaciers. Our modern irrigation system(s) delivers the most efficient amount of water which ensures consistent production and high yields of top-quality organic crops on our farms. In fact, our yields of organic wheat, organic pinto beans, organic black beans, and organic corn are some of the highest in North America.
Additionally, the rich volcanic soil and perfect climate conditions along the east side of the Cascade Mountains provide the optimum mix of essential nutrients and an excellent natural environment for growing some of the best organic crops in the world. Moreover, our organic crops (organic wheat, organic pinto beans, organic black beans, organic corn, etc.) are stored in state-of-the-art storage facilities, which allows us to have a year-round stable supply at affordable and consistent prices.
Sustainability & Stewardship
Cascade Milling is certified organic, which means our crops are grown/produced without pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, genetically modified organisms, etc.
In addition, to help prevent and control pests and diseases in our wheat, we have an active “ integrated pest management” or IPM program, which is an environmentally sensitive approach to pest and disease management. In particular, we monitor our crops for pests and identify them accurately. We also have sustainable pest and disease prevention programs in place such as planting rotational crops that naturally repel harmful pests and using natural predators to reduce populations of damaging pests.
Moreover, we use state-of-the-art global positioning satellite-guided tractors to decrease fuel consumption and reduce carbon or greenhouse gas emissions.
Furthermore, our modern and efficient irrigation systems deliver the optimum amount of water and crop nutrients which helps to conserve our precious water resources while ensuring efficient and high-quality production of organic crops (wheat, beans, corn, etc.) on our farms.
